About Intergram
We represent performing artists and producers of phonograms and audio-visual fixations, managing their economic rights. We connect artists, producers, and labels with broadcasters and other users. We ensure their work is legally and financially settled, both in the Czechia and abroad. Our collective rights management is authorized by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic.
Intergram was established in 1991 for the purposes of the provision of cultural, educational and social services and for the purposes of the development and support of the performing art by organizations associating a significant number of copyright holders, specifically: Actors’ Association, Union of Authors and Performers, Artistic Association Artes, Union of Professional Singers of the Czech Republic, Union of Orchestral Musicians of the Czech Republic, Society of Concert Artists, Association of Performing Artists, and the Czech National Group of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI).
What is Copyright?
producers. These rights allow them to authorize the use of their works, performances, or recordings — either personally or by giving consent to a third party (the so-called user), typically in exchange for remuneration.
Some of these authorizations can be granted individually by contract (e.g., when a playwright gives a theatre permission to stage their play, or when a film producer signs an agreement with a TV station to broadcast their film).
What is Collective Management?
With technological developments, individual licensing has become impractical in certain areas — it is not feasible for each performer to grant individual consent for every use of their performance on the radio, nor is it realistic for every radio station to acquire individual licenses from all rights holders for all tracks they broadcast.
That’s why collective management organizations (CMOs) exist — to handle these uses collectively. They issue licenses on behalf of a large number of represented rightsholders and to a wide range of users. This system is more efficient for rights holders and more practical for users.
Thanks to CMOs, broadcasters, businesses, and other users can freely communicate an entire repertoire to the public, provided they pay the remuneration to the relevant CMO. The CMO then distributes the collected remuneration as accurately as possible to all rightsholders.
CMOs operate under authorization granted by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic and must meet the requirements of the Copyright Act, including transparency, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
Which Rights We Manage
Intergram manages rights related to copyright — those of performers, music producers, and film producers.
Under the Copyright Act, certain rights must be exercised exclusively through a CMO. They cannot be managed individually. This applies in particular to:
Broadcasting (TV, radio)
Private copying (reproduction for personal use)
Cable and satellite retransmission
Rental of recorded performances
Annual supplementary remuneration for performers
Intergram also operates under extended collective management, which allows us to license performances and recordings even if we do not have a direct contract with every individual artist, publisher, or producer involved. This ensures legal use for users and enables rights holders to receive remuneration they otherwise would not have access to.
This applies unless a rights holder opts out of the system. If you are represented by Intergram but do not wish us to manage your recordings this way, you may opt out—please contact our Representation and Distribution Department.
Intergram manages extended collective rights particularly for the following uses:
Use of broadcast content (performances and recordings via TV and radio)
Use of published sound recordings (commercially released recordings)
Any artist or producer may enter into a rights management agreement with Intergram for a broader range of rights, including authorization for territories outside the Czech Republic.
